Alex Borg pledges bright future for Gozo in visit to NADUR

10 OCTOBER 2025

Nationalist Party Leader Alex Borg visited Nadur, Gozo, today as part of the party’s Qrib Tagħkom series, meeting residents to discuss issues affecting daily life, including education, healthcare, transport, agriculture, and the environment.

Borg said the Nationalist Party will implement a “politics of the people,” prioritising direct engagement with citizens, including youth, the elderly, farmers, and professionals. He contrasted this approach with the Labour Government, which he said relies on “politics of fear.”

On education, Borg highlighted challenges faced by young Gozitans in accessing post-secondary and tertiary studies and securing quality employment. He called for greater investment in Gozo’s education sector and for wage parity with Malta.

Addressing elderly concerns, Borg promised improved healthcare in Gozo, including the establishment of a Reconstitution Pharmacy to provide cancer treatment locally, reducing the need to travel to Malta. Borg also addressed connectivity issues, noting poor road conditions and limited accessibility on ferries.

He pledged that a Nationalist Party government would invest in the island’s roads and ferry fleet, including a vessel dedicated to cargo transport. Farmers and fishermen were another focus, with Borg highlighting support for local agriculture and environmental protection.

He criticised the Labour Government for blocking a PN bill that would make the environment a fundamental human right but noted the Nationalist Party’s initiative had prompted the government to launch a Green Paper on environmental issues.

Healthcare in Gozo was also discussed. Borg said a Nationalist Party government would prioritise a modern hospital and improve staffing levels while appointing shadow spokespersons for Preventive Care and Neurodiversity.

On youth engagement, Borg said recent surveys show growing interest in the Nationalist Party among young people. He said the party will continue to make youth a priority and maintain close contact with communities across Gozo to address their concerns.

Borg concluded that the Nationalist Party will remain committed to policies focused on citizens’ needs and delivering a “bright future” for both Malta and Gozo.
