Robert Abela meets Gozitan chef Giovann Attard at Aqua Roma in New York

Prime Minister Robert Abela visited Aqua Roma restaurant in New York, where he met Gozitan Executive Chef Giovann Attard and members of the restaurant’s team.
 
During the visit, the Prime Minister spoke with Giovann Attard about his professional journey, the experience he has gained abroad and his role leading Aqua Roma’s Italian kitchen.
 
The Prime Minister also toured the restaurant and met employees from across the team.
 
Originally from the Gozitan village of Għarb, Giovann Attard began his culinary career at the age of 16. Over the years, he has gained experience at prestigious restaurants and establishments in Malta, London and Dubai.
 
Today, he serves as Executive Chef at Aqua Roma, where he brings his Mediterranean roots to the restaurant’s menu in the heart of Manhattan.
 
The Prime Minister praised Attard’s hard work and determination, noting that his journey reflects the talent and professionalism of the many Maltese and Gozitans succeeding beyond the country’s shores.
 
He said that stories such as Mr Attard’s are a source of national pride and help raise Malta’s profile internationally.
 
“Giovann’s success is a fine example of the talent, determination and professionalism of Maltese and Gozitans who are making a name for themselves around the world. Giovann has not only built a successful career. His story also fills us with pride and inspires other young people to believe in their abilities and pursue their ambitions,” Abela said. 
 
The Prime Minister was accompanied on the visit by Minister for Foreign and European Affairs Chris Fearne, Minister for the Economy, Technology and Strategic Projects Silvio Schembri and Head of Secretariat at the Office of the Prime Minister, Col. Dr Mark Mallia.
